Internet Safety Advice
11 October 2017
Here at The Swinton High School we know how fast the rate of technological change is impacting the world our children live in. We also understand the worries and challenges that presents to us as parents and carers. Many subjects across our Curriculum cover online safety with our students but we wanted to share with our parents/carers access to a website with some invaluable information to help you understand how to keep your child safe online.
Internet Matters is a not-for-profit organisation that has a simple purpose - to help keep children safe in the digital world with backing from many of the UK's most prominent internet providers supported by leading child online safety experts. Their research* shows that 61% of children aged 7-17 use a mobile phone to access the Internet. Making small changes such as adding parental controls, encouraging them to use their tech devices in a communal area such as the living room or kitchen and having open discussions about how they use the internet will all help to put your mind at rest.
